Low temperature surface process

Occurrence of flashes:

Rubber parts: The flashes appear when the rubber material is molded. 

Injection molding parts: The flashes shows up when plastic material is injection molded but the mold gad getting bigger.

Die casting parts: Insufficiency of die compounding, clamping force, mold strength result in the occurrence of flashes.

 

Feasibility of low temperature surface process

Rubber or plastic material are all belong to high polymer material which has a character that in different temperature environment, it shows different phase state. The phase state only is the change of mechanics state, so the material will get back to former state when temperature recovers and their property not changed.

 

Processing Principle

With the decrease of the temperature, rubber /plastic parts enters into hardened, brittle, and crystallized progress, its flexibility is gradually lost. It is easily broken by external force when it is under brittle temperature. Flashes of the molded products are generally much thinner than finished product itself, they become brittle earlier than product in the low temperature. Cryogenic  deflashing machine applies this principle, works in the time range when burr is brittle while product itself keeps its flexibility, hits the product by high speed projected special plastic media, clear out the brittle flashes.
